Majorities sometimes get it wrong! So, what does democracy need so that we get it right? The important ingredients of a working democracy include:
- freedom of speech
- freedom from intimidation and cohersion
- literacy
- debate and opposition
- information distribution through diverse media
- systems to protect factual "truth" and dismiss "lies"
- mechanisms to collect evidence
- intelligent and skilled political leadership
- the motivation to get involved
