Myanmar to send gov't employees to S Korea to learn technological expertise

YANGON, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will send dozens of government employees to South Korea this year to pursue advanced technological expertise in the industry and IT fields under South Korean government sponsorship, a local weekly reported Sunday.

Sponsored by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which is South Korean government's overseas aid agency, the scholarship will be provided to a total of 50 Myanmar government servants from various ministries, the Flower News said.

So far, a total of 1,000 Myanmar state employees have been sent under KOICA sponsorship since 1991.

KOICA has been helping Myanmar implement a technical school project in the country's Thagar area. Teaching aids and machinery installation are being done in cooperation with Myanmar 's Ministry of Industry-2, according to earlier official report.

KOICA has also been involved in other South Korean government's technical cooperation projects in recent years.
